The Space
Retail thrift boutique, meeting space and community center located in the Sharpsburg neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Our partners at Second Harvest are driving the circular economy in the retail/clothing/home goods sector and also providing essential community connection for local residents. In keeping with the nonprofit’s progressive, cost-conscious business model, the team at Second Harvest were looking for reclaimed materials to stay on budget and also to align with their mission throughout its renovation of a former film developing facility operated by ColorTech. Doors Unhinged met those needs by providing and installing doors at the space for staff offices, employee work areas, restrooms, closets and customer changing rooms. By going reclaimed, Second Harvest and its Board saved money, diverted 960 lbs of materials from the waste stream, prevented the release of carbon emissions associated with new manufacturing, and fulfills its mission of reuse each day.
